Ruth Lazard-Germain

Ruth Lazard-Germain, APRN-BC, FNP, MSN-ED, is a professor at one of the nation’s top-rated Colleges in the state of Florida, where she has been a tenured faculty in the College of Nursing for the past ten years. She obtained her Post master’s Certificate in Education and Adult Learning in 2010, her Masters in Family Health Nursing in December of the same year, and Her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2000 from Florida International University. She has been a Nurse for 23 years and has spent the past ten years working as an FNP and Full-time Nursing faculty. As a nurse, she worked in the Medical/ Cardiac/Neuro ICU, Pediatric intensive care, Trauma, Transplant, Medical-surgical Nursing, and L&D. As a Nurse Practitioner, most of her experience is in Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Primary Care, and Hospice.

As an educator, she is certified by the Association of Colleges and Universities (ACUE) in best classroom practices in helping students develop critical thinking, engage with the subject matter, and nurture student engagement. She specializes in nursing curriculum development and design, NCLEX item development and writing, and curriculum revision. She is a student success coach working with at-risk students to create study strategies leading to successful program completion and passing of the NCLEX RN Exam. She is an expert in Learning and Study strategies, critical thinking development, and clinical reasoning proficiency.

She believes in an integrated approach to learning and incorporates both teaching-learning strategies and mindfulness in her approach to teaching.

Ruth enjoys a delightful book in her free time, spending time with her husband, two kids, and working out. She attends spin classes, yoga classes on the beach, or Pilates on any given day. Ruth enjoys walks on the beach, volunteering at the local church, and mentoring the next generation.
